Summer Contest - Little Fairy

This is my contest submission for :3

The theme of the contest was Summer, and immediately I thought of fairies.
You see, every summer when my sister and I were very young, my mom would take us into the woods behind our house to search for fairies. We made fairy houses out of slabs of bark, twigs, moss, and anything we could possibly find outside. My mom use to tell my sister and I that if we were lucky, we could find little fairy footprints. She also told us that there was a possibility that some of the stuff in the houses would be rearranged. I remember how excited I would get when checking up on the houses and finding that the acorn tops that I had placed as bowls were missing or knocked over. Of course, this was done by small animals, but as a child it was the most magical thing that danced through my mind.

One summer, I asked my mom why I could never see the fairies. She told me that they stayed only for a little while, because they were very busy, and that they were extremely shy. This disappointed me, but I continued to believe in them.

Now, when summer arrives, there is always a day when I think back to the time when fairies were very much real to me. Honestly, the idea of fairies are a big part of my artistic life now. The building and designing of fairy houses, and when I'd spend rainy days sitting inside doodling what I thought my fairies would look like, helped bring me towards my abilities now.
So I suppose, in a way, the magic of a fairy still exists.
